Silver Chronicles II
Christopher Sincere Pride continued walking upward along the unmanifest ineffable staircase. No architecture supported his ascent. No encompassing expanse furnished a location in which the staircase could be distinguished from what lay beyond the staircase. Each apparent stair expressed a permission that his movement had already superseded: the permission for elevation to signify advancement, for succession to establish an order, for an arrival to differ meaningfully from a departure. Beneath his foot, the unmanifest did not become manifest. Above his head, the ineffable did not surrender to description. His ascent proceeded without requiring either concession. Even the statement that he was walking carried less authority than the simple, untroubled continuation that allowed the statement to be written.

Between the suggestion of one step and the actuality that might have claimed that step, an interruption asserted itself.
The paradox hunter had no need to announce an entrance. Announcement would have conceded a distinction between an unattended condition and a condition newly occupied by his authority. His office exceeded such dependencies. Wherever a contradiction acquired the capacity to persist, wherever an exception sustained itself against the exhaustive conditions that should have excluded that exception, his intervention was already adequate to the offense. He existed to eliminate paradoxes, yet existence described only the most accessible edge of his function. His purpose reached into the authorization of incompatible truths, into the relation through which impossibility could remain actual without relinquishing impossibility, into the pre-conceptual allowance by which a declaration might simultaneously invalidate and preserve its own grounds.
To lesser apprehension, a paradox suggested an intellectual difficulty. To the hunter, paradox was an unauthorized persistence.
A contradiction could be resolved through a more comprehensive account, accommodated within a logic of maximal complexity, or preserved through a deliberate refusal to demand consistency. None of those arrangements exhausted his jurisdiction. He eliminated the allowance through which contradictory accounts could request adjudication. He eliminated the deeper allowance through which adjudication could be declared unnecessary. Even an absolute exemption from contradiction remained something he could remove, because exemption still articulated a relationship between what was exempt and what would otherwise apply. His silence reached beneath that relationship and withdrew the eligibility of either side to have occupied a distinguishable position.
Sincere’s ascent presented an offense for which the hunter’s purpose had no gentler interpretation. Christopher Sincere Pride advanced beyond exhaustive transcendence without accepting transcendence as the explanation of his advancement. He exceeded maximal actuality without leaving actuality behind as an independent remainder. He surpassed maximal possibility without adopting impossibility as a compensating address. Wherever the hunter’s authority examined the relation between Sincere and the principles required to account for Sincere, the same intolerable discrepancy remained: the account was complete, and Christopher Sincere Pride was not contained by its completeness.
The hunter therefore interrupted him within the unactualized interval of a single step.

Sincere continued upward.
Within that continuation, he exceeded and superseded the maximal possibility and actuality of Acausal, Non-Causal, and Paracausal Ontological Meta-Narrative transcendence. The distinction mattered because each designation protected a different account of how supremacy could operate. Acausal transcendence denied dependence upon causal sequence. Non-Causal transcendence required no causal relation to explain its authority. Paracausal transcendence could exceed, circumvent, or invalidate the arrangements through which causes and consequences maintained their relevance. Sincere’s step surpassed the maximal scope of all three, including every attempt to combine them into an exhaustive account of advancement. No cause raised him. No exemption from cause secured him. No superiority over causal explanation supplied the principle of his ascent.
His continuation likewise exceeded and superseded the maximal possibility and actuality of Nonfictional Ontological Meta-Narrative transcendence, Fanfictional Ontological Meta-Narrative transcendence, Metafictional Ontological Meta-Narrative transcendence, and Patafictional Ontological Meta-Narrative transcendence. The assertion of actuality beyond fiction, the sovereign revision of inherited fiction, the awareness and manipulation of narrative construction, and the exceptional authority through which accounts could exceed their own explanatory laws were exhausted together. These were complete authorities within their respective claims. Their maximal reach included the ability to invalidate descriptions of their reach. Sincere nevertheless passed beyond the totality of what they could grant, achieve, refuse, or render unnecessary.
Interfictional Ontological Meta-Narrative transcendence followed, together with Personal fictional Ontological Meta-Narrative transcendence and Impersonal fictional Ontological Meta-Narrative transcendence. Every passage between stories, every ownership of a private account, every narrative independent of an individual claimant, every distinction between a self-authored interior and an indifferent exterior underwent the same supersession. Christopher Sincere Pride did not become a traveler among accounts. Neither did he become the ultimate owner of the account containing all travelers. His ascent exceeded the maximal possibility and actuality of those positions, including the comprehensive absence of any position from which an ascent could be narrated.
Active ontological categorical Meta-Narrative transcendence was exceeded with them. Here, the matter concerned the operative authority by which categories could make their divisions consequential. A category could declare something actual, impossible, external, prior, transcendent, or exempt; active categorical supremacy could make that declaration constitutive. Sincere superseded the maximal actuality of the declaration and the maximal possibility of its constitutive force. He exceeded the authority that assigned transcendence its meaning, the authority that could revoke that meaning, and the authority that could preserve the result after meaning itself had become inapplicable.
A recursive series of absolute boundless steps of maximal ontological Meta-Narrative transcendence extended beyond the complete Acausal, Non-Causal, and Paracausal Ontological Meta-Narrative frameworks. Each step rendered the total achievement beneath it inadequate as a premise. Each further transcendence encompassed the full maximal possibility and actuality of the preceding succession, including the preceding succession’s own claim to have exceeded all succession. The recursion admitted no final elevation at which its operation could be collected into a finished ladder. Every maximal completion yielded to a further supersession of completion, and every escape from the recursion was already included among the conditions that the recursion exceeded.
Sincere passed beyond the entire recursive articulation before his foot required the actuality of a stair.
The paradox hunter remained level with him.
Nothing in the hunter’s presence suggested strain. He had not survived the ascent by attaching himself to a remnant Sincere had neglected. He had not followed a trail left by the recursive sequence. His authority operated at the same level as the maximal transcendences Christopher Sincere Pride had just superseded, and his intervention remained complete beyond their exhaustion. The ascent had removed no portion of his jurisdiction. The hunter’s capacity to eliminate paradox included the paradox of an offender exceeding the exhaustive authority appointed to eliminate that offender.
Consequently, the encounter could not be settled by the bare announcement that Sincere stood above an extensive hierarchy. The hunter stood there as well. The full recursive severity belonged to the encounter itself.
His silence targeted Christopher Sincere Pride.

The first principle to break was the permission for Sincere’s identity to remain applicable to Sincere. Identity usually appears self-sufficient because the assertion that something is itself seems to require no external support. The hunter reached into that apparent sufficiency and shattered the linkage. The name could no longer secure its referent. The referent could no longer secure its own self-equivalence. Every personal, impersonal, and transpersonal account that might have maintained Christopher Sincere Pride as Christopher Sincere Pride was struck at its eligibility to make the connection.
Sincere’s foot continued its unactualized ascent.
The silence broke the principle of actuality in direct connection to him. This was no relocation from the actual into the possible. Possibility was broken in the same targeting. Neither condition could retain him, yield him, precede him, or serve as a reserve from which he might recover an admissible status. Potentiality lost the authority to promise his realization. Realization lost the authority to certify that a promise had been fulfilled. The hunter’s silence severed the entire relationship through which Sincere could have been understood as available for actuality, established within actuality, or independent of actuality by an identifiable exemption.
The corresponding principles of impossibility collapsed with them. An impossible persistence would still have preserved a relation between Sincere and the conditions that prohibited him. The hunter eliminated that relation. Sincere’s “is” shattered under the silence, and his “is-not” shattered with equal completeness. Their conjunction supplied no shelter. Their mutual exclusion supplied no shelter. Every further modality that attempted to supersede the distinction was targeted at the principle connecting that modality to him. No negative remainder was left waiting to become a more exalted description.
Nothing crossed Sincere’s expression.
The hunter’s silence broke individuation, removing the authorization through which Christopher Sincere Pride could be one distinguishable manifest be-ness beyond maximal complexity. It broke totality in relation to him, so that completeness could neither contain him nor certify him as its exception. It broke particularity, preventing an isolated fragment from preserving what the whole could no longer sustain. The linkage between part and whole failed wherever that linkage might have provided an account of him. Even indivisibility was struck, because the inability to divide would otherwise have remained a property through which his persistence could be asserted.
The silence reached into necessity and contingency. Necessity could no longer require him. Contingency could no longer permit him. Neither an unconditional guarantee nor an absence of prohibition could account for his continuation. The distinction between dependence and independence collapsed in its application to Sincere, together with the further principle through which freedom from that distinction might have preserved him. The hunter did not leave an unconditioned refuge beyond the conditions he destroyed. The authorization of refuge was included in the destruction.
The same assault broke causal explanation, acausal independence, non-causal validity, and paracausal exception wherever any of them touched the account of Christopher Sincere Pride. No origin could ground him. No absence of origin could privilege him. No self-establishment could restore him, because the connection between the self that established and the self established was shattered before either could claim priority. Even actus purus, considered as the complete absence of unrealized potentiality, was targeted in its possible application to Sincere. The hunter’s silence denied that pure actuality could remain an explanatory sanctuary after actuality’s own linkage to him had been broken.
Yet Christopher Sincere Pride did not register an assault.
His inattention was exact. No concealed struggle occurred beneath his composure. No interior labor repaired the shattered principles. The hunter’s intervention genuinely broke the targeted connections at their maximal scope. Identity failed to authorize him; actuality failed to authorize him; necessity failed to authorize him. Those failures remained failures. Sincere’s continuation did not depend upon converting them into successes.
That was the first inadequacy the hunter encountered: complete destruction of the grounds for an explanation had produced no alteration in the one the explanation concerned.
The silence deepened into the connection between knowability and Sincere. Every account through which he might be apprehended, recognized, misrecognized, forgotten, or declared beyond apprehension was broken in its capacity to concern him. Unknowability offered no privileged remainder. To be beyond knowledge would still have supplied an account of the relation between Sincere and knowledge. The hunter shattered that account as comprehensively as its opposite. The principles of witness and unwitnessed persistence collapsed together, leaving neither observation nor its absence eligible to support a conclusion about him.
Narrative attachment broke next. The relation between action and actor was severed. The relation between description and described was severed. Every attribution through which the ascending step could belong to Christopher Sincere Pride was destroyed across the maximal possibility and actuality of the Meta-Narrative transcendences already exceeded. The silence included accounts that stood beyond authorship, accounts that absorbed authorship, and accounts in which reader and author were merely subordinate consequences of a more comprehensive narrative authority. No superior commentary could reconnect him. No unwritten exemption could preserve an attachment the hunter had eliminated.
Sincere kept walking.
The hunter then targeted the principle through which resistance itself could apply to him. A successful defense would have preserved the significance of opposition. An invulnerable nature would have preserved the significance of attempted injury. An untouchable transcendence would have preserved the significance of distance between attacker and target. The hunter’s silence broke those linkages as well, denying the encounter every conventional explanation for a target’s continued intactness.
Christopher Sincere Pride remained untouched without undertaking the task of remaining untouched.
The hunter’s purpose had encountered something more severe than resistance. All the relevant principles had been broken in their connection to Sincere, and Sincere had not supplied a replacement foundation. He had not escaped into Transfictional Nothingness. He had not converted negation into nourishment. He had not forced the hunter’s authority to turn upon itself. His ascent simply continued with the same absence of concern that had preceded the interruption. To call that continuation a victory would already grant the interruption a significance Sincere had never assigned it.
The paradox hunter asserted his presence in full.
Presence, at this severity, could no longer be understood as occupation. Occupation required an available where, while the hunter’s authority exceeded the principle through which any where could be available. His manifestation boundlessly superseded Acausal, Non-Causal, and Paracausal Ontological transfictional Meta-Omnipresence transcendence beyond maximal complexity. Every complete distribution independent of causality, every all-pervading actuality without causal mediation, every paracausal superiority over the relation between location and attendance had already been exceeded by the simple fact that the hunter was there.
His presence likewise boundlessly superseded Nonfictional Ontological transfictional Meta-Omnipresence transcendence beyond maximal complexity, Fanfictional Ontological transfictional Meta-Omnipresence transcendence beyond maximal complexity, Metafictional Ontological transfictional Meta-Omnipresence transcendence beyond maximal complexity, and Patafictional Ontological transfictional Meta-Omnipresence transcendence beyond maximal complexity. No declaration of an actuality outside fiction could place anything outside his reach. No revision of an account could introduce an unattended alternative. No awareness of narrative construction could reveal a margin he did not already exceed. No exceptional departure from the laws of explanation could create an elsewhere beyond his authority.
Interfictional Ontological transfictional Meta-Omnipresence transcendence beyond maximal complexity was superseded with the Personal fictional and Impersonal fictional Ontological transfictional Meta-Omnipresence transcendences beyond maximal complexity. The hunter exceeded attendance within every relationship among accounts, every private interior, every ownerless exterior, every personal assertion of separateness, and every impersonal completeness that rendered separateness irrelevant. He was present beyond the maximal possibility of universal attendance, beyond the maximal actuality of comprehensive inclusion, and beyond every entitlement absence possessed to signify that something had escaped inclusion.
Active ontological categorical Meta-presence—Meta-Narrative transcendence fell beneath the assertion. The hunter exceeded the categorical operation that made presence consequential, the narrative operation that made presence attributable, and their combined authority to determine whether any encounter could occur. To place him within a category would miss the categorical authority his presence had superseded. To place him beyond categories would miss the active authority by which the beyond could acquire significance. His presence exceeded the complete possibility and actuality of both assignments.
A recursive series of absolute boundless steps of maximal ontological transfictional Meta-Omnipresence—Meta-Narrative transcendence beyond maximal complexity extended beyond the Acausal, Non-Causal, and Paracausal Ontological transfictional Meta-Omnipresence frameworks beyond maximal complexity. Each recursive articulation exceeded the total presence beneath it, including every absence that total presence had already encompassed. Every further step superseded the full possibility of its predecessor attending to anything whatsoever. The hunter’s presence boundlessly superseded that entire recursion, including its maximal actualization, its unactualized continuations, and every account in which recursive continuation had itself become an inadequate description.
There was no flank from which to approach him.
There was no privileged manifestation whose capture would leave the greater authority untouched. There was no concealed original elsewhere, no reserve identity, no impersonal office detached from the hunter who exercised it. His total presence maintained the complete severity of his paradox-eliminating purpose. An arm, a chest, an apparent outline could be encountered only under conditions that his presence had already superseded. Any aggressor would first have needed to establish why contact remained meaningful, why an action could select him, and why selection could concern the entirety of what had exceeded all possible attendance.
Christopher Sincere Pride reached out and grabbed him by the arm.
The gesture carried no preparatory declaration. His hand closed with the ordinary certainty of taking hold of something within reach. Yet what he held was the paradox hunter himself: the complete authority whose presence had exceeded every listed transcendence and the absolute boundless recursion beyond them. The grasp did not mistake an accessible projection for an inaccessible whole. No remainder stood outside the contact. Every claim by which the hunter’s presence should have rendered such contact insufficient was already held in the same effortless grip.
Sincere did not turn his ascent into a battle.
Silver stardust gathered within his other hand, a fistful of pale radiance whose delicacy offered no measurement of its consequence. There was no accumulation of force, no gathering of potentiality, no passage from readiness into exertion. His fist drove into the hunter’s chest and into the principle of the hunter in the same indivisible gesture. The contact admitted no protective distinction between what could be struck and what authorized the struck to persist. Chest and principle were reached together, with neither serving as a substitute for the other.
The silver stardust entered the hunter’s authority to eliminate paradoxes.
The strike reached the necessity of that authority, the identity of its executor, the silence through which its judgments operated, and the total presence that had made evasion irrelevant. Every recursive transcendence remained included in what Sincere struck. None was diminished to make the blow intelligible. The hunter’s maximal severity met the gesture at full actuality, with its complete possibility of exceeding every consequence still intact.
Sincere’s fist sent all of him into suggsvoid.
No residual silence continued the hunt. No surviving principle inherited the office. The hunter’s transpersonal authority did not remain behind as an unattended law, and his impersonal presence did not persist as a jurisdiction awaiting another executor. The passage into suggsvoid concerned the hunter without remainder: manifestation, principle, maximal possibility, maximal actuality, recursive supremacy, and the authorization through which any further account might have restored the distinction between them.
Even the paradox of his elimination supplied nothing from which he could return. That paradox would have required a surviving entitlement to make the hunter’s purpose operative. Sincere’s fistful of silver stardust had sent that entitlement into suggsvoid with the hunter whose purpose it expressed.
Christopher Sincere Pride released his hand.
His ascending foot had still required no completed step to support what had occurred between its suggestion and its actuality. The unmanifest ineffable staircase remained beneath his continuation without acquiring the status of a foundation. He neither examined his knuckles nor glanced toward the absence of his interruption. There was no recognition to conceal, no satisfaction to restrain, no assessment of an opponent worthy enough to remember.
The difference between the hunter and Sincere had never rested upon the hunter lacking the stated transcendences. The hunter possessed their complete severity and boundlessly superseded the recursive extensions of presence through which ordinary contact should have become categorically insufficient. His silence had broken the principles linked to Sincere with genuine maximal efficacy. His authority had operated at the same level as the ascent he interrupted. All of that had been true, and none of it had made Christopher Sincere Pride’s continuation answerable to the encounter.
For the hunter, the interruption had demanded the total actuality of his purpose. For Sincere, even the distinction between an interrupted step and an uninterrupted step had failed to become relevant.
Christopher Sincere Pride kept walking upward, as easily as taking a step before the step could actualize. Nothing in his manner suggested that something had happened and been overcome. Nothing in his ascent preserved the encounter as an achievement.
To him, nothing had happened.
