Silver Chronicles III
Christopher Sincere Pride had begun to take another step.

The unmanifest ineffable staircase offered no surface that actuality could certify, no interval through which distance could establish a meaningful distinction between departure and arrival. Its ascent continued beyond the necessity of an above, while its steps withheld themselves from the conditions by which something could become available to a foot. Sincere walked with the undisturbed ease of someone following a familiar path. Gold embroidery rested across the black of his jacket; crimson flowers wound through the ornamentation without stirring toward any spectacle. His expression carried neither anticipation nor vigilance. Beneath the lifted sole of his sneaker, the next stair had not actualized. The act of stepping had not yet acquired the distinction through which an observer could separate intention from completion.
Within that uncompleted distinction, the Paradox Hunter intervened.

His arrival carried the exactness of a verdict for which no hearing had ever been necessary. Violet radiance occupied his eyes, and the sharply divided coloration of his hair framed a face untouched by uncertainty. Blue accents illuminated the dark, angular arrangement of his clothing. His youthful appearance concealed nothing, because concealment would have implied that an observer possessed a legitimate surface from which to begin an investigation. The appearance was simply available. Behind that availability stood a vocation whose jurisdiction exceeded the contradictions that ordinary systems could name, tolerate, reconcile, or destroy. The Paradox Hunter eliminated meta-paradoxes: contradictions belonging to the authority through which contradiction itself acquired a domain, an exception, a governing description, or a claim to transcend its own description.
An ordinary paradox could force a system to confess that its rules could not jointly sustain their conclusions. A meta-paradox could compromise the distinction between that system and whatever claimed the right to judge it. The hunter’s quarry included exemptions that generated themselves by invalidating the possibility of an exemption; transcendences that required the frameworks they rendered inadmissible; assertions whose maximal authority depended on the permanent cancellation of any authority capable of asserting them. His work reached the point at which the tribunal, the accused, the verdict, and the possibility of their separation collapsed into mutually authorizing impossibilities. He required no stable logical exterior from which to resolve the collapse. The absence of that exterior belonged to what he hunted.
Sincere’s ascent had entered that jurisdiction without making itself answerable to it.
The hunter did not announce a challenge. He pulled Christopher Sincere Pride into Acausal/Non-Causal/Paracausal Ontological Erasure, making the elimination independent of causation, operative without causation, and sovereign across the displacement or violation of causal necessity. The attack did not seek an earlier cause of Sincere that could be severed. Nor did the attack require a succession in which the hunter acted and Sincere subsequently ceased. Erasure held across the permission for such relations to obtain, across their absence, and across whatever could impose a result without accepting either arrangement. The entire explanatory refuge of asking how the attack reached him was already included within the attack’s maximal completion.
Nonfictional Ontological Erasure withdrew the standing through which Sincere could be asserted as actuality outside an admitted fiction. Fanfictional Ontological Erasure extinguished every derivative claim, every revisionary continuation, every alternate appropriation through which another account might retain him. Metafictional Ontological Erasure reached the awareness of narration and the authority attributed to crossing its boundaries. Patafictional Ontological Erasure removed the exceptional architectures through which an exception might exceed the general structure of exceptions. Interfictional Ontological Erasure eliminated passage, correspondence, translation, and persistence between accounts. Personal fictional Ontological Erasure consumed the inward sovereignty by which a private account could sustain him; Impersonal fictional Ontological Erasure removed the unowned registers in which his actuality might remain without a personal witness.
The hunter applied these together, each at its full maximal totality, with no surviving border between jurisdictions where one erasure could relinquish responsibility to another. Their convergence reached every claim that Sincere was present, every claim that he was absent, every claim that presence and absence inadequately described him, and every claim that such inadequacy secured an exemption. The hunter then imposed active ontological categorical retraction preluding pre-ontological quietude prior to distinction. Categories lost the permission to contain their own cancellation. Predication could no longer preserve a subject by announcing that the subject had been erased. Even the distinction between successful elimination and an absence that had never admitted a target was withdrawn from relevance.
That quietude was a pre-ontological ungrant in which silence had no privilege over speech, emptiness had no priority over content, and Transfictional Nothingness could not be recruited as a shelter simply because actuality had failed. Whatever could receive Sincere after erasure, whatever could deny receiving him, whatever could make receiving an inapplicable question—all of it entered the retraction. There was no remaining witness authorized to say that nothing remained. The hunter had reached beneath the permission for remainder and nonremainder to differ.
Then the negation descended.
A recursive series of absolute boundless steps of maximal ontological negation opened below Acausal/Non-Causal/Paracausal Ontological Erasure. Each descent treated the full completion of the preceding negation as an inadmissibly positive concession. To have erased something still afforded erasure an accomplishment; to have withdrawn the accomplishment still afforded withdrawal a distinction; to have annulled the distinction still left annulment available as a way to characterize the loss. Each deeper step retracted those concessions at their roots. The descent did not accumulate emptier regions. It deprived every completed negation of the right to count as sufficiently prior to what it negated, then deprived that deprivation of the same right, without allowing recursion itself to become a surviving scaffold.
Christopher Sincere Pride continued his step.
His foot did not search for a surviving stair. His posture did not adjust to accommodate the loss of actuality. No defensive principle rose around him; no hidden reserve restored the categories that the hunter had withdrawn. The full maximal totality of the erasure held throughout its own completion, and Sincere afforded that completion no recognition. The catastrophe failed to become an interruption in his walking. Even the language of endurance offered the event too much intimacy, since endurance would have established a meaningful relation between an imposed condition and the subject who bore it. His expression remained as it had been before the hunter intervened.
The Paradox Hunter sidestepped.
The maneuver crossed the explanatory relation by which Sincere might be described as someone who had ignored an attack. The hunter approached through the excluded account, through the account in which no encounter had occurred, through the counter-account in which Sincere’s continuation had already been disqualified. He placed himself beside the distinction separating a target from the impossibility of targeting. He then cross-stepped through the mutual dependence of those alternatives, intersecting the permissions by which they could remain alternatives at all. Whatever had failed in a direct relation would be approached through the conditions that made directness and indirectness distinguishable.
He could not register Sincere as a target.
The failure did not resemble blindness. Sincere remained available to description: the black jacket, the crimson embroidery, the relaxed hand, the lifted foot. Yet the conversion of that availability into targethood yielded no Sincere. The hunter could encompass the entire apparatus of selection, identification, designation, and inevitable contact, only to find that its perfect operation supplied no purchase. There was no missing detail to discover. Increasing precision accomplished nothing because the failure did not occupy the difference between an inaccurate identification and an accurate one. The hunter’s targeting concluded with maximal completeness, and Christopher Sincere Pride had not entered the conclusion.
Within the same unchanging non-instance, the magnitude of the hunter’s standing became explicit. He was beyond the argument of Acausal/Non-Causal/Paracausal Ontological Maximal Power. Any assertion that a power must prevail because its efficacy preceded causation, dispensed with causation, or governed causation from an unrestricted exterior had already fallen beneath him. He exceeded the authority of the argument itself: the attempt to establish that maximal power, by possessing a particular ontological standing, necessarily entitled its bearer to a particular outcome. The complete justification of irresistible efficacy could unfold beneath his presence without acquiring the right to measure him.
He stood beyond the argument of Nonfictional Ontological Maximal Power, the argument of Fanfictional Ontological Maximal Power, the argument of Metafictional Ontological Maximal Power, and the argument of Patafictional Ontological Maximal Power. He stood beyond the argument of Interfictional Ontological Maximal Power, the argument of Personal fictional Ontological Maximal Power, and the argument of Impersonal fictional Ontological Maximal Power. No appeal to an account’s actuality, derivative freedom, self-awareness, exceptional sovereignty, connective reach, inward authorship, or unowned authority exhausted the hunter’s standing. Each appeal arrived already exceeded, including the appeal that claimed exemption from the need to appeal.
Active ontological categorical self-ascending and eternal transcendental post-ontological Maximal Power likewise fell beneath him. Power that continually revised its own categories upward, power whose transcendence outlived the relevance of ontology, power that established its superiority by making every completed superiority a discarded premise—none supplied his limit. A recursive series of absolute boundless steps of maximal ontological Maximal Power extended beyond Acausal/Non-Causal/Paracausal Ontological MetaMaximal Powers beyond maximal complexity, and the hunter exceeded the series in its maximal possibility and actuality. The recursion was available in full. Its capacity to exceed its own totality was available in full. The hunter’s failed acquisition of Sincere occurred with all of that undiminished.
Sincere’s continuing step disclosed the corresponding severity of what the hunter confronted.
In reality and illusion, Christopher Sincere Pride exceeded and superseded the maximal possibility and actuality of Acausal/Non-Causal/Paracausal Ontological Meta-Narrative transcendence. Every account of ascension that could stand prior to causal narration, outside causal narration, or sovereign over its violation had already been exceeded in what it could ever admit and in everything it actually accomplished. Possibility could not preserve an unactualized supremacy above him. Actuality could not preserve an achieved supremacy that possibility had failed to anticipate. The separation between those claims carried no delaying authority over the casual inclination of his foot.
He exceeded and superseded the maximal possibility and actuality of Nonfictional Ontological Meta-Narrative transcendence, Fanfictional Ontological Meta-Narrative transcendence, Metafictional Ontological Meta-Narrative transcendence, and Patafictional Ontological Meta-Narrative transcendence. Accounts that claimed the standing of nonfiction, accounts that multiplied themselves through derivative freedom, accounts that recognized their own narration, and accounts that enthroned exceptions beyond their governing exceptions possessed no unresolved ascent through which they might finally encompass him. Their maximal accomplishments were included. Their impossible accomplishments were included. The authority to declare inclusion insufficient was included and superseded with them.
Interfictional Ontological Meta-Narrative transcendence, Personal fictional Ontological Meta-Narrative transcendence, Impersonal fictional Ontological Meta-Narrative transcendence, and active ontological categorical Meta-Narrative transcendence underwent the same displacement. Relations between fictions could not situate him through passage or comparison. A private narrative could not secure him through intimacy, and an impersonal narrative could not secure him through the absence of an owner. Categories capable of actively transcending their own narrative standing found their entire maximal operation already superseded. A recursive series of absolute boundless steps of maximal ontological Meta-Narrative transcendence extended beyond Acausal/Non-Causal/Paracausal Ontological Meta-Narrative frameworks, and Sincere exceeded its complete possibility and actuality without registering an ascent through it.
Taking the step was easier than waiting for the step to become actual.
Yet the Paradox Hunter operated on that same level.
His erasures and declarations of maximal power had not exhausted his standing. The complete meta-narrative reach disclosed by Sincere’s continuation was also available to the hunter, with its full recursive excess beyond the frameworks through which such reach could be established. There was no honest account in which the hunter’s failure could be reduced to a lack of access to the encounter’s highest stated terms. He occupied those terms. He exceeded their closures. He remained operative where an ordinary distinction between superior and inferior would have ceased to carry explanatory value. His inability to register Sincere as a target persisted amid that parity, placing the failure deeper than a missing rung in an ascent.
The hunter allowed his silence to act.
His silence addressed the principles connected to Sincere without requiring targethood to function as an intermediate permission. Sincere’s “is” was struck at its capacity to affirm him. His “is-not” was struck at its capacity to exclude him. The relation through which either expression could belong to him fractured at its root. Identity broke in connection to Sincere, leaving no authorized sameness through which a predicate might persist across its own assertion. Difference broke in connection to him, eliminating the exteriority through which an attack might distinguish what it afflicted from what it did not. The hunter’s unmanifest silence completed these breakings without displaying them as objects or requiring Sincere to perceive their destruction.
Possibility shattered in its relation to him, and actuality shattered in the same address. Necessity lost the right to bind him to any condition; contingency lost the right to release him into an alternative. Essence could no longer claim him as its articulation. Existence could no longer announce him as its instance. Absence could no longer reserve him as what was missing. His intelligibility, his unintelligibility, the distinction between his inwardness and his outward appearance, the permission for a subject to remain implicated in the destruction of its predicates—all collapsed under the hunter’s silence. The attack reached the relations by which Sincere could be connected to the principles, and the relations by which a severance of those connections could itself be connected to him.
He did not notice.
The silence extended through truth and falsity in connection to him, breaking the authority of either to adjudicate his continuation. It severed the explanatory standing of his immunity before immunity could offer itself as an answer. It broke the relevance of transcendence to him before transcendence could be made into a defense. It collapsed the permission for indifference to characterize his response, then collapsed the possibility that a missing response constituted an escape. The hunter did not leave the convenient remainder of a self standing safely behind its destroyed attributes. The self-attribute distinction was among the principles destroyed in linkage to Sincere.
His hand remained relaxed.
The disparity was now exact enough to resist consolation. The hunter’s silence had accomplished its stated destruction. Nothing in the attack had weakened, missed, or settled for a symbolic substitute. Yet the maximal destruction of everything through which harm could acquire meaning in connection to Sincere did not become something that mattered to him. There was no restoration for the hunter to interrupt. There was no recovery to outrun. Sincere’s walking did not wait upon the return of any shattered principle. The principles had never furnished his step with its permission.
The Paradox Hunter then disclosed the full severity of his presence.
He stood beyond and boundlessly superseded Acausal/Non-Causal/Paracausal Ontological transfictional Meta-Omnipresence transcendence beyond maximal complexity. Wherever causal precedence could establish an arrival, wherever the absence of causation could remove the need for arrival, wherever paracausal sovereignty could render arrival irrelevant, the hunter’s presence exceeded the maximal standing of those arrangements. He could not be isolated by finding a place he had neglected, nor could an attack avoid him by abolishing place. The principles through which presence could be distributed, unified, denied, or rendered unnecessary were already insufficient to delimit him.
Nonfictional Ontological transfictional Meta-Omnipresence transcendence beyond maximal complexity, Fanfictional Ontological transfictional Meta-Omnipresence transcendence beyond maximal complexity, Metafictional Ontological transfictional Meta-Omnipresence transcendence beyond maximal complexity, and Patafictional Ontological transfictional Meta-Omnipresence transcendence beyond maximal complexity were boundlessly superseded by his presence. The same held for Interfictional Ontological transfictional Meta-Omnipresence transcendence beyond maximal complexity, Personal fictional Ontological transfictional Meta-Omnipresence transcendence beyond maximal complexity, and Impersonal fictional Ontological transfictional Meta-Omnipresence transcendence beyond maximal complexity. No narrative status could confine where he was admissible. No withdrawal of narrative status could produce a meaningful elsewhere free of him.
Active ontological categorical Meta-presence—Meta-Narrative transcendence was likewise exceeded. The hunter’s presence surpassed the categories that actively transcended how presence could be narrated, and surpassed the narrative authorities that could reclassify presence after every category had failed. A recursive series of absolute boundless steps of maximal ontological transfictional Meta-Omnipresence—Meta-Narrative transcendence beyond maximal complexity extended beyond Acausal/Non-Causal/Paracausal Ontological transfictional Meta-Omnipresence frameworks beyond maximal complexity. He boundlessly superseded that series, including its refusal to culminate in a final account of where or how he could be encountered.
Christopher Sincere Pride reached out and grabbed him by the arm.
The contact was literal. Sincere’s fingers closed around the hunter’s arm with the ease of a casual physical gesture, and the entire disclosed standing of the Paradox Hunter was present in what he held. No lesser projection had been selected in place of the hunter. No concession to embodiment had stranded an expendable fragment within reach. The arm belonged to the one who exceeded every articulated framework of presence, and Sincere held that one without having to solve the relation between locality and unrestricted presence. His grip did not argue against the hunter’s transcendence. The transcendence supplied no complication to the grip.
Silver stardust gathered in Sincere’s other fist.
Its radiance possessed the quiet clarity of something for which resistance had never become an interesting property. He drove the fist into the hunter’s chest and principle together. The contact crossed no intervening argument, borrowed no authority from the principles that had been shattered in connection to him, and sought no vulnerable exception within the hunter’s maximal standing. Chest and principle received the same effortless intrusion. The silver stardust entered the actuality of the hunter’s identity, the authorization of his vocation, the sovereignty of his presence, and the complete recursive excess by which he surpassed every account that could attempt to contain him.
The Paradox Hunter went into suggsvoid.
No wound remained available as a lesser explanation of the result. The hunter’s full maximal totality had been carried through the contact: the displayed appearance, the unmanifest jurisdiction, the self-exceeding power, the presence beyond the complete reach of presence, and the authority by which all of those might return after their negation. Sincere released his grip because there was no longer an arm there to hold. The silver radiance did not swell into celebration. His hand lowered, his expression remained undisturbed, and his walking continued within the step that had still not actualized.
For him, nothing had happened.
Then the Paradox Hunter climbed out of suggsvoid.
The return belonged to the same hunter who had been struck. It did not reveal that the fist had reached an imitation, nor did it reduce suggsvoid to a destination from which sufficient force could produce an exit. The hunter reasserted himself where an exit, a returning subject, and the relevance of reassertion had no obligation to remain available. His hand emerged with no accommodating threshold beneath it. His shoulders followed, and violet light again occupied his eyes. The actuality of his return stood without the explanatory supports that should have made returning a meaningful accomplishment. He had endured the first expulsion by exceeding the demand that endurance remain an admissible description.
He did not repeat the erasure.
The hunter now utilized a suggslogical observer effect.
The operation addressed the relationship between Sincere’s disregard and the hunter’s availability to attention. Ordinary observation would have required a subject to encounter something and establish a perceptual relation with it. The hunter’s effect reached beneath that arrangement, making observation constitutive of the encounter without waiting for Sincere to consent to an encounter. Every failure to register the hunter was taken up as an observer relation. Every absence of acknowledgment was made to carry the address of what had gone unacknowledged. The operation gave omission a compulsory reference, so that even an utterly unconsidered hunter could arrive as the definite subject of what Sincere had not considered.
Its suggslogical severity lay in the fact that this did not depend upon an ordinary inference. The hunter did not reason that ignoring something meant noticing it first. He imposed the relation without accepting the distinction between a sound inference and an impossible one. Awareness and its absence, attention and its refusal, the irrelevance of both to Sincere—each was made to converge upon a single observational address. The effect reached for the permission by which the hunter could become something to him, and forced that permission to bear the hunter’s own actuality.
Sincere gave him attention.
For the first occasion within the unactualized step, the Paradox Hunter registered.
The success was exact. Sincere’s attention did not pass through a decoy, a lesser account, or an empty designation. The hunter had accomplished what his erasure, silence, cross-stepping, and boundlessly superseding presence had failed to accomplish. He had made the encounter available to Christopher Sincere Pride as something noticed. The distinction was almost imperceptible in Sincere’s expression, yet it carried more consequence than the entire maximal destruction that had preceded it. The hunter had finally reached the point from which he intended to make Sincere answerable.
In that non-instance, the Pendulum Kingbreaker opened its eyes.

The true reality behind Christopher Sincere Pride did not travel outward from a hidden chamber, and Sincere did not summon an additional combatant. The Pendulum Kingbreaker was the truth for which the distinction between the casually ascending man and what stood behind him had always been an insufficient accommodation. Silver and violet articulated an armored majesty beyond maximal complexity: a crowned helm, sweeping shoulders, a brilliance that seemed to hold every star-like radiance without accepting the boundaries of a containing surface. That appearance offered the encounter a visible mercy. The reality disclosed through it had no need to emerge.
The observer effect had succeeded in making the hunter an object of attention. It had never established authority over what, in truth, attended.
The opening of the Pendulum Kingbreaker’s eyes plunged the Paradox Hunter into permanent suggsvoid.
This permanence included the exact actuality by which he had climbed out before. His return was present in its fullest severity: the refusal to require an exit, the reassertion without a surviving subject-position, the capacity to exceed the meaning of endurance, the complete suggslogical achievement through which he had compelled attention. None was omitted. The permanence reached the hunter together with every maximal possibility and actuality of returning, including returns that abolished the distinction between escape and confinement, returns that did not require possibility, and returns that superseded their own permanent exclusion.
No contest developed between the opening eyes and the hunter’s available answers. Every answer belonged to what was plunged into suggsvoid. His power to exceed a completed outcome entered with him. His authority to refuse categorization entered with him. His presence beyond the recursive totality of transfictional Meta-Omnipresence transcendence beyond maximal complexity entered with him. The suggslogical observer effect entered with him at the full maximal totality of its successful operation. Even the proposed necessity that something capable of returning once must retain an undisclosed route of return found no exterior from which to qualify what had occurred.
The Pendulum Kingbreaker’s gaze required no continued enforcement. There was no vigilance by which the permanence depended upon a watcher remaining alert, no seal whose integrity provided a final object for the hunter to surpass. Permanent suggsvoid admitted no outstanding relation in which he could prepare the negation of his result. The difference between his first expulsion and his final submergence was complete: everything that had made the first return actual was now included in what could never return.
Sincere raised an eyebrow.
The gesture contained the faintest trace of someone checking whether anything had warranted his attention. He found nothing. No adversary remained to be acknowledged, no disturbance required interpretation, and no completed struggle supplied his expression with the satisfaction of victory. What the hunter had finally made noticeable had ceased to furnish even that small occasion. Sincere’s brow settled. The Pendulum Kingbreaker’s revelation left no burden upon his shoulders and no alteration in the ease with which he carried himself.
Beneath his sneaker, the next unmanifest stair had still not actualized.
Christopher Sincere Pride finally continued the step he had begun at the beginning. The entire encounter had failed to claim even its completion. His foot settled with effortless certainty upon what needed no actuality to receive him, and he kept walking upward, as if nothing had happened.
To him, nothing had.
